MEKALH AGAMET Poems

Long gone are those days
When I knew no pride
I still had a land and a home
And a yard to play
...

"See this man, strange and young
Despondent face disheartened soul
Poor lad came from far
To feel the breeze of beautiful Rome"
...

So I thought…
With a little gut and a little push
A beautiful intention in the heart
I can face you in the eyes
...

Your crispy voice echoed in despair
Agonized sigh filled the air
Your eyes in tears,
The shawl in the hair
...

They glanced in horror…
all confused,
Bewildered face,
confused like a fool
...

The Death Of A Pride

Long gone are those days
When I knew no pride
I still had a land and a home
And a yard to play
But I thought pride would lift me up
So I made it come in to my way.

I went to the wild a gun in my hand
And fought a war to earn pride
High and down I searched in the moors
Shuffled the grass far and wide,
And there it was….
Lying behind the thorns
Defying anyone whoever comes forth.

But a fool me! Dared to the core
I paid pearl and gold even more
To seize it as though it was mine,
For I used to believe
Glory never parts pride
When it comes to shine.

Pride came, yet I couldn't claim it
For it had an owner behind the doors
But through my foolishness
I am still no body stranded in the shores,
My dreams shattered my horizons dark
I miss those days
When I had a home and a yard
With no one to chase me
For I sought no glory no pride.
