Ww1 Fight For Country, Fight For Queen

They went to war in their teams
full of hope and dreams
ready to fight and do it right
fight for country, fight for queen
through day and night
they would stay
in the trenches together
they endeavored
in the trenches came the struggle
to continue, to survive
the rats and fleas
the illness and death
surrounding the soldiers
as they fell too
to their graves
in the meadows where they fought
full of destruction and sorrow
in the midst of the darkness
grew the poppies
red like the fallen soldiers blood
and as bright as the light that used to fill their hearts
they went to war in their teams
full of hope and dreams
ready to fight and do it right
fight for country, fight for queen.
