Figment Of A Memory

The rose’s leaves,
Wilted and torn,
The stem is bent,
Withered thorns.

It aged with time,
It aged with grace,
It grew ill and sick,
It realized to late.

The crimson petals,
Fell one at a time,
Every petal,
I’d love to call mine.

I could only sit and watch,
As the petals wilted away,
And where a rose once bloomed,
it would no longer stay.

Though memories of such a rose,
They fade in the midst,
For it can easily be replaced,
It’s already the fifth.

The sixth will be brighter,
The sixth will be true,
The six will be forgotten,
Before it can be used.
