Altered Desires

I was so unsure of everything
What I wanted
what I needed
All of it so unclear
You came along, lifted me up
And I felt the walls
I built so high
Crumbling down at my feet
You are so divine,
Too good to be true,
A dream I never had
I was just a body
Filled with fright
And it wasn't the way I wanted things
Alone: that's what I desired
But maybe it was the way you sounded
When you said my name
Through telephone lines
Miles away from me
Or the way you stroked my arm
In such a gentle way
While we were close
Which all brought comfort
and worry
and happiness
and warmth
and myself: out of the clouds
My true colors shone
For the first time
Since he colored me gray
