  • POEM: Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe (4/17/2009 7:36:00 AM)

I've seen this poem many times on my standardized tests, but never truly appreciated it. That's probably because for the testing, I had to examine all the lines, and search for hidden meanings that might not even be there, and make connections to other pieces of literature. Because of having to analyze every little thing, I didnt get the chance to enjoy the overall effect of the poem. And that has helped to ruin poem for me.

But I know that looking back on this,10 or 20 years from now, I'll come to see how beautiful of a poem it was, is, and shall always be.

  • POEM: Thinking by Oustine Hao (3/20/2007 11:52:00 AM)

I imagine the one glass as two half-glasses. One of them is full, one of them is empty. But what does it matter, anyway?

  • POEM: It's Blood Red by Oustine Hao (3/9/2007 10:47:00 AM)

Woah, in your biography you said not to expect fluffy stuff from you, but this is a lot darker than what you usually write.
I know the lines are supposed to be short (3 syllables) , but a few too many words have been cut out all together to make it fit. One here or there is ok, but not all of the time, it makes the poem hard to follow. Instead, try to find synonyms or make the lines a bit longer.
Other than that, it's a good poem.
