  • POEM: Mortal Me by Joseph Oladehinde Ibikunle (10/22/2014 10:08:00 AM)

I like the imagery but I hold to the principle that the body is but a vehicle for Soul (consciousness) to express itself in this physical dimension. Since Soul is a particle of God's consciousness, one of Its properties is eternalness. One's body is temporal; one's Soul is immortal!

  • POEM: Song of A Dying Philosopher by Joseph Oladehinde Ibikunle (10/22/2014 10:03:00 AM)

Joseph, a great write although I believe we must look at life as a school, an opportunity to add to the volume of one's eternal knowingness. If never bothered, the possibility of one's growing new insights is somewhat limited. Learn, learn, learn that's my mantra! Cheers!

  • POEM: My Child by Mike Barrett (10/21/2014 2:56:00 PM)

Hi Soulful, I'm pleased that this poem touched you. I wrote it with my daughter in mind as she was working through a rough period in the early years of her relationship with her first boyfriend. Her experience turned out to be the exception - they're still together today, years later.

Hi to all PH poets - just a quick message to wish each and all a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

On another note, I just finished reviewing Leonard Cohen's lyrics..... to me Leonard is a truly gifted Soul. I feel we have all been blessed with his song " Hallelujah" . One of my poems speaks of might want to check it out.

I wrote this poem back in 1959.....Its structure may be appreciated here in this workshop forum. Your thoughts?

    A Brook

Hear water breaking in a brook
Over rocks that are timeless with age -
A sound near as old as the earth itself
With a meaning beyond any sage.

Hear water breaking in a brook
Over rocks that are gray with the years -
An elixir of youth to those ancient stones
Is this water of heaven shed tears.

    See you there earth's brow,
Beneath the cool brook's soothing self?
Not one wrinkle on that brow
As years from us will win,
Not one wrinkle on that ancient brow,
As smooth as an infant's skin!

Hear water breaking in a brook,
Laughing on its way to the sea.
Hear water breaking in a brook,
Laughing at you and at me!

Hi fellow poets, please feel free to check out and comment on my contributions here on this site or on my personal web-site, My poetry is often of a spiritual but not religious nature and will, I believe, appeal to those seeking a deeper understanding of their spiritual essence. It would be great to hear from you! Cheers!
