A Friend In The Dark

Why do you watch me
from that corner so far away?
Is it that your lonely?
Do you just want to play?

Or is it something else?
Something you just can't say
something to do with the look of your bones
something because of what happened that day

Whatever the trouble
I try to understand
I lean out of bed
I give you my hand

but it was not meant to be
our late night soiree
I watch disappointed
as you recede to decay.
