Happy Mother's Day

I wanted to write you a poem
But the words just wouldn't come
I've lost my inspiration
There is nothing; I am numb

I thought it would be easy
But the turmoil in my head
Makes it harder to remember
What you did and what you said

I didn't come to see you
And for that I feel regret
I couldn't bare the silence
Your reply I wouldn't get

I didn't bring you flowers
To put upon your marker
As even on a sunny day
My heart is getting darker

I know what you would say
If you could talk to me right now
I know that you would be so sad
To see me hurt and down

I try so hard to carry on
Like any other day
But Mum, I miss you so damn much
I'm really not okay

I ask for your forgiveness
I'm sorry for being weak
I want to make you proud of me
To find the strength I seek

I want to put the pain behind
That cuts me like a knife
I know it's what you'd want
For us to celebrate your life

Although I can't do that just yet
I know one day I will
And when I do I promise you
No tears of mine shall spill

And so the point of writing this
And what I'm trying to say
Is that I love you and I miss you
And a happy Mother's Day
