It doesn't grow on trees, you know.

"Like most dilemmas, yours rides on the horn
of vices left unchecked, and now I fear
The only succor left to you is clear.

A Hessian in need of a tonic
Mixed some barbiturates with some chronic.
He stayed up for three days
In a Steppenwolf haze,

A bonnie young lass from the isles
Used to woo all the lads with her smiles,
'Til she fell off her horse
(Her puss ruined, of course) .

Enter the beetle, the sickening shell
hiding treasures of refuse and solace, as well.
She enters through prospect, and exits through pain,
spinning sugar from gossamer grafts to her brain.

Master Lost
In the silent rustling of the evergrass,
the piquant shadows of old dogs run
under the dirt, searching for the boy
who whistled once, then stopped to
leave them to devices imprinted in the
peak behind guileless, puzzled eyes.
For now, forever, history wakes afresh
in the flaring nostrils of each morn's expectations,
though sleep has beckoned anciently, and hearts
have fallen silent in the snow. They wait.

It's sad to look at your page jim and see nothing on it..... on which once was listed, in my view, the most .. aye Ivan.. original, engrossing and intellectually formidable selection of poetry by a living writer on the site. Your decision is the right one jim. So far as I could discern the man behind it matched the work in every way that's worthwhile: a self aware, solid, tough, sensitive, imaginative, honest, decent human possessed of a rare integrity. Jim, You are a brilliant poet, a kind person, a force to be reckoned with. You have given me many words of encouragement with my poems.
