The old armadillo
Could deny it no longer,
The cold got colder
And the winds got stronger.
...

A bird of prey,
Is what they say,
But I do not like meat.
Instead some greens,
...

I made a wish,
Upon a fish,
Who swam through the sky.
It twinkled bright,

I eat the dead
And stick my head
Into the rotting remains of a carcass

The Chilly Armadillo

The old armadillo
Could deny it no longer,
The cold got colder
And the winds got stronger.

This was no place
If you liked it hot,
Armadillo hated the cold
And the shivers it brought.

So he packed up his things
And said his farewells,
Then he jumped off a cliff
And away he fell.

Before he landed
He grabbed his tail
And tucked his head
Into his shell.

It took a while,
But he hit the ground
Then spun away
Perfectly sound.

He rolled and rolled
Over unusual land,
Over snow and grass,
And dirt and sand.

Soon his adventure brought him
To a cactus rich spot
With vicious dirt devils
And the warmth they brought.

Armadillo unraveled
And amazed he stared,
As the air warped
And the sun glared.

The desert was home!
In armadillo’s sight.
And he liked that way,
Until day turned to night…
