Mignon Isaacs Bryant Poems

Those who have fallen will rise again,
And those who have risen will fall.
It's something so steady that, through all this pain,
There is lasting courage for all!
...

Today's been fun,
But now it's done,
Resolving in a flurry
Of joyful songs,
...

Why must it be that all this has been writ?
Why must I fall the last one in the line?
I have no brains, or plays, or scores, or wit,
That have not found their place elsewhere in time.
...

Be brave, and step lightly in things you don't know,
Your courage will clear what you see.
Believe in yourself, and give without doubt,
And love what you've learned how to be.
...

With all my heart, your praises I will sing,
Cry to the world the wonder of your note!
And hope that all my prayers and praises bring
The love of you, upon whom I must dote.
...

Push my heart to clearer songs,
I need to find where I belong.
I'll rock the boat until it tips,
I'll swim 'til I find bigger ships.
...

When life has laughed at my beliefs,
When sharp reproval makes me meek,
When worlds at large have taught me shame,
And work towards joy left me to blame.
...

The girl I see in the looking glass
Has no real purpose there.
She just stands still, looking confused,
And using people's air.

Mignon Isaacs Bryant Biography

Mignon Isaacs Bryant grew up with her three siblings as a sheltered and solemn homeschooler in Austin, Texas. Her parents divorced when she was 14, and she and her siblings moved with her mother to Houston, Texas, when she was 16. Mignon has been very fortunate all her life. She has a loving family, absolutely wonderful friends, and a passion for life, but she frequently goes into depressive spells in which poetry is one of her only comforts. She hardly ever shares her poetry, because she writes it for her own benefit, and she doesn't generally think it good enough for many people to read. But please read, and please leave comments if you've comments to give!)

On Courage

Those who have fallen will rise again,
And those who have risen will fall.
It's something so steady that, through all this pain,
There is lasting courage for all!

Courage, my friend! Courage will keep you
Laughing, and standing up tall.
For, while you believe, and keep right on working,
Your courage will cushion your fall!
