We walk together hand in hand, side by side
Across the seaside
But not for Elise she wanted to play,
And I choose the other way

Our footprints still embedded in the sand
Mother said we should watch the tide,
It’s stronger than you or I
She goes to play and I just walked the other way

We used to walk hand in hand
But only I now feel the sand
My sister just wanted to play
And I choose to go the other way.
