Mike Sheriff Poems
in my attempt to impress to woo and beguile i let out a joke to which there’s no smile
i am impoverished dead-beat
gonna get some strong rope gonna let it hang down gonna get myself up
to him you talked you left me to hang foolish and mocked the warning bells rang
she cradles the coffee cup, savoring it’s warmth.
with filthy fists fishing ‘man-shaped-rook-in-rags’ scours
to him you talked
you left me to hang
foolish and mocked
the warning bells rang
it wasn’t your scene
we were not alright
you acted quite mean
expected a fight
