The moon, close-hauled,
Careens across the Sea of Night,
Amongst the scudding clouds and islets of stars.

The seed germ of life
Which oft-time dormant lies,
Flowers yet midst thwarting weeds,

Friendship -
Smoothens the rough edges
Of life.

Lightning shoots,
Thunder rolls,
Lightning strikes,
Bells toll.

Fragrant as an opening bud
Receptive to the warming sun,
Or what-so-e'er the day will bring,
She dances lightly in the breeze.

Summer!
Hell-hot and the mercury still rising;
Streets deserted except for a few unfortunates
And children straggling homewards at the end of morning school;
...

Cockleshells of Life are we,
Braving storms of tempestuous seas;
Riding the breakers, clinging on tight,
Rolling awash, praying for light.
