I drove to Las Vegas felt lucky that night
I drove passed a cop car something wasn't right
I was going ninety in a fourty five
maybe he was just too lazy to drive

If only stars shined a little brighter on this street
I'd say that this is the most beautiful place to meet
Unlike under the burning tree that burnt the bottom of our feet
As we tried to climb to the top to reach the stars

Almost dawn
The sun rests still
Ocean waves
Drink to your fill

Tranquil eyes stare bounce off the moonlight sky
Ablaze the dim morning sun has now died
In your quest for admiration you ask why
Through tainted teeth you had been told a lie

There's an old man, wore an old caddies hat
Sang an old song, on the same old stoop where he sat
Something 'bout old dogs an' old cats
'A welcome sign on every door mat'
