Eric Mwenda Poems

And hope
hope
that you my love,
...

It dawns like a hammer clap
that shutters the slumber land,
The shadows
and ghosts
...

There is this line
with this side
And that side is yours
...

Shadows of men fall behind them
covering their tracks
taller now, that the day is ending,
soon in darkness
...

Into the steady breeze
sweeping the country,
they spread their wings
and took off
...

Descend upon these hills
like shadows at nightfall,
Knock away this cup i sipping on
of concorted confusions:
...

I want to write a poem
that filters like wind through leaves
whistling past half the world
till to her it whispers
...

Look!
Here it comes again
that silver lining
pregnant with goodies
...

I know
you know
that i know
you knew
...

I tell of a tale,
of a paradise lost
before it was found
...

I perch my thoughts
on that flimsy
twisting figure,
bourdered by identical twins
...

Though
storms of time
yield shreds of broken dreams,
and discarded sons, in its wake
...

Fare thee well
Oo ghosts of the dark of times,
retreat back
into shadows of once upon a time,
...

This arms this body bears
are not its own,
the handshakes are forged,
neither is this step style
...

We gladly embrace it
and cover ourselfs with smiles
then twist the twist
and twist a spring into our step
...

If bridges would be of grief
and the loneliness the fuel
that drives a man to build,
If a bank exists
...

Let the years melt
into glimpses of gold-
speckles embedded in my memories,
let the struggles
...

You!
Regroup
yes you-i regroup
me! Regroup thyrself
...

Pull the shades
and lock the door after you,
leave him now
let the goon cry his heart out
...

It's where we escape from
the fear
that smothers the senses
Where we see the opening
...

I Sit And Hope

And hope
hope
that you my love,
doesn't get snatched,
like a chick from the chicken,
stolen away by pradators

That you my dear
will lock the doors in time
when am away,
so the predators,
those coveters
of my sweet fruit,
doesn't eat in my wake
or drink from my cup

My love
i sit hoping,
and hope
That when path is dark
with despair,
when no strength
be left in you,
that you will turn to the light
of our laughter,
and you will bask,
in sun of dreams we share.

I sit and hope
my love,
i sit and hope
