Solitude

The salty winds of crashing waves,
And cool blue of the sea,
And as the sun begins to set,
Silhouettes arise from the trees.

The slow white glow of the misty moon,
Makes shimmering water glow,
Further in I find midnight,
What I’ll see I’ll never know.

Now the warmth of crackling fires,
Leaks through open doors,
And as I slowly walk away,
I get farther from the shores.

Further in the fields await,
For someone new to pass,
While horses roam and sheep abound,
I am now the last.

As I climb the highest hill,
The wind begins to blow,
The chilling gale speeds up my heart,
And then I look below.

I come down fast the other side,
Still further from the town,
The peace of mountain windy sounds,
Drifts off as I climb down.

The plains of grass and one large oak,
Is waiting there for me,
But by half-way, the rain falls down,
And there is nothing left to see.

I stride on through the dense downpour,
And rivers start to flood,
But then I trip and cut myself,
And soon spills out my blood.

I patch my scar though it remains,
I leave it and forget,
Of all the things I’ve seen so far,
I’ve seen nothing yet.

My voyage through the seas of land
Are coming to their end,
And as the rain begins to stop,
My back begins to bend.

Now my efforts give way to rest,
Inside I fall too fast,
But now I sit in the shade of a tree

Solitude at last
