Regret At Old-Age

I
Had the time of my life in the city,
a life of Riley.
Lo!
At a ripe old age,
did I realize that day,
What I had been missing all my years,

Eall the sweetness and light,
Eall the serene nights,
Eall the merrymaking sights,
of an olde country life.

Today,
After all the puffed up wheeling and dealing,
a feel of regret is arising!

But!
As once Disraeli said,
Youth is a blunder;
Manhood is a struggle;
Old age is regret.
