Nicola Bowes Poems

I lie here
As the thin white
Billows out wanting to
Show me more
...

Blue fades away
Into the midnight air
Hands, feet, shoulders everywhere
Spread across the bed sheets
...

Chills run down my spine; the fm's on again.
Same story different country
"My little boy died in battle"
A battle for what? Good? Glory? Gluttony?
...

Indigo stains my cheeks
It's a new experience with you
I thought I knew you better
But now on this lonely night
...

I cannot write
I cannot talk
She cannot see
She cannot hear
...

To hell with the girls of new who regurgitate my ideas that I've sold
It irritates me to think that they think I wouldn't know
and guess that they starved my mind of its soul
Yet again to hell with these dogs that bleed
...

She walks into the room
She signs a cross at the doorway
Her silk gown caresses her naked skin
The beads around her neck
...

When it's your time to fly
Will you claim your keep at her side?
Or set her down?
There's point of crying
...

11.

Gorgeous gothic prince where are you?
Are my calls forever to fall on dead ears?
Is there no way I'll have love?
Can I not catch it with a net?
...

Tell me now…
Is it fun to play with guns
to lead people on?
To bring immediate death
...

The sound of a scream from a broken body is silent
Unless told to fly on the wings of uncertainty
Because then even your deepest worries are made known to the world
Leaving you exposed and without the hope if ever being able to find yourself again
...

My fingertips along your bare skin
Is just a memory, how did it begin?
My throat is reeling as I cry on my bed
You've taken everything and I really am dead
...

You look at me with lost eyes
as though I know the answers
All the answers to all the questions
you have ever asked
...

There she stands alone
In the corner of the room
Now alone in the world
Yet accompanied in the womb
...

So, my friends, this is my plight
Of finding my very first Mr. Right
Oh we were so very tight
He called it love at first sight
...

18.

Sometimes I do wish that I could put an amount on how much you love me because I think I would be better off with the knowledge and facts.
But then other times I think about how a measure would defeat the point of love and mar the infinite bounds of it by making it finite.
You cause me so much pain because you cause me so much happiness.
You broaden my spectrum of emotions and make me feel more on both ends of the scale- good and bad.
...

Love
One word that encapsulates so much
Condenses and constricts into four lonely letters
a greeting, a farewell

The Best Poem Of Nicola Bowes

The White

I lie here
As the thin white
Billows out wanting to
Show me more
Of the shadows
That play along it

It stops
And silently the shadows
Zip across it
Untouchable by anyone
And anything

The grey lines snake and
Warp their way along the
White folds
Dizzily playing as the sun
Lends a helping hand

Giggling at me the
Shadows close in for the fold
Weaving concentricities through
The wispy fabric

I reach out in hope
Of catching one
But my movement
Only disturbs the white
And the shadow runs
From my fingertips

A gentle woosh sends
Them scurrying across
The white

Beautifully dancing
Taunting me with their
Inexistence

Oh how i wish to be a
Simple movement like them
To rely on light as all
Living do
I'd love to paint silhouettes
On natures' canvasses
To be an artist like the sun and wind

To create fun out of the
Obscure and intangible

I want to master the
Simplistic brushing of
The white across my skin
By the breath
And mimic the warm
Glow that kisses gold into
My hair

How i would like to play
With the elements
and command a storyline

but then how I also
long to scurry across
the thin white as
something composed of
nothing solid

It would be sunny to exist as inexistence
