A Common Plight

Never mind these moments of pride. All may be found through love.

He feels as I feel, and she feels it too,
Shame into relief; a single pain, love, tear, shared by two

You dwell on that feeling that only you could have felt,
Many more house that dwelling too

And all those books you read that yell 'You're not so alone! '
Swept up in a cloud of self-righteousness; finds no poised listener!

So to you, the young or the hating, heed only this if nothing else:
We share burdens and passions of the same mould and form,
So be kind to yourself as you are all.
