In Fields Where Nothing Grew
In fields where nothing grew but weeds,
I saw a flower at my feet,
Bending there in my direction,
Astonished I to see it's presence,
For never had i seen before,
Such beauty grow and form
And rise above this cursed floor.
The flower did bloom with such sweet beauty
And I enchanted by its splendor,
Fell to my knees in its surrender.
I, the victim of it's sweet allure,
Could not but help extend my hand
And pluck this beauty from the floor.
But doing so I killed the flower
and made it's death so premature.
