If Ever

If ever, I am not in your beloved arms
Those carry me like palanquins
Into isles of dreams and fantasies
Know that I am lost
Because otherwise I can never desert you

Every moment will take me away
Further from you
Believe me, you will lament greatly
If I was vanquished because you were not there
So, do not stop looking for me
Even for a moment

Life is not a freeze-frame
Things may change greatly
Or a little every day
Though, we do not know why
The sails of life are torn by winds
Lofty banners are soiled
If you find that I am not with you
Do believe, that I am in shreds
And you need to find me

Dear love, do not forget me
Even for a moment
Because I can never stop loving you
Because your love has grown in me intensely
It has roots in my heart, and branches all through me
Its fruits are too sweet for me to forbid
Even if a leaf is plucked, it hurts
If uprooted, I will choke and bleed
But wouldn’t survive at another place or city

But dear, when I am lost
Do not waste time in prayers,
Because, you know, I hate prayers
And that damning religion
That teaches you to pray
This way you can never find me,
Even if I was just millimeters from you
Even if they are sweet due to your loving voice
Because prayers are deafening and silencing, in the same act
Eyes are closed, lines are rhetoric
And the acoustics are directed upwards
To strange and nameless beings
Not to the surrounding fellow humans
Where they fade, into non-existence

So, at temple, I will never be found
Nor look for me at hidden locations and secret places
Because you know, I do not keep secrets
Better look for me as a dog that has strayed
If luck draws you close
I will come sniffing to you

Know this, that I cannot be lost fully,
Not so fully that can never be found
You know, when I breathe,
Parts of me become molecules of air
That you breathe
Likewise your sweat becomes moisture
And when it rains,
Your delicate scent reaches me

The show of life goes on, days and nights
When the sky is clear and bright
Just to keep the spirits high
Make a walk on twisted paths,
On soils, dry, moist or warm
On broken twigs or yellow grass
Or may kick stones in sarcasm
And when it is bleak and dark
I would rather lie on grass,
Commanding stars

Life is a cannon-ball fired into future
We cannot stop or turn back in time
Yet quite strangely and luckily so
We can recollect our pasts through memories

The stream of time must end in a reservoir
Where the past, present and future must mingle
If life is real, so are dreams and memories
If not here, we shall meet at that other extreme
Where we can glide in space or walk on stars;
(why care for roads then?)
And the air we breathe is eternity
