Paul Flanagan Poems

There you are a beacon of happiness; Here I am, overwhelmed.
Drowning in the warm glow of the sun we walk toward each other.
Through the glistening grass and under the sea blue sky

Failed Meeting

There you are a beacon of happiness; Here I am, overwhelmed.
Drowning in the warm glow of the sun we walk toward each other.
Through the glistening grass and under the sea blue sky
Happiness is only moments away once again,

Unsure if you can see me I call your name,
Louder I repeat the call this time; I can't let this opportunity slide away.
You look up smiling recognising my call but nothing changes.
The distance stops fading; the sky turns grey

I can hear it coming, the train of darkness racing along its tracks.
Twisting, turning trying desperately to escape its impossible grasp.
Suddenly it grips me, roaring victoriously once again.
Silence surrounds me now, everything a fading memory
A tear stained pillow remains the only clue.
