Paul Hughes Poems

The truth hurts to tell and to receive
But in the telling comes the reward

The truth is the greatest of gifts
...

Why do you look at me so, young man
Because my hair is grey & my arm is weak.
my speech is slow and my step uncertain
Oh, I know you young man
...

Paul Hughes Biography

Always had an interest in poetry but never taken the trouble to write any. No idea if what I write will interest anyone - nothing is original and poetry strikes me as 'saying the same things a million different ways'. Maybe I need to read more: -))

The Truth

The truth hurts to tell and to receive
But in the telling comes the reward

The truth is the greatest of gifts
between friends, laying bare what we are,
all that really is, revealed

What better or finer show
all pride and conceit gone
humble and awaiting judgement.

when all is talk and cheap only
the truth has value.
Truth is love beyond compare

truth is trust and faith and courage
all life lived has no finer ambition
than to live a life with truth in all things.

When you despair in all speak the truth
set yourself free and pass on the beacon of truth
Truth conquers fear - be brave.
