Growing Up

The cool customer walks into the shop,
the silver bells jingle,
and it is music to my ears,
like the laughter of the lovely lady,
seated snugly in her chair at the modest bistro,
a girly giggle, a charming chuckle
hardly hearable amidst the pleasant hum of conversation that fills the air.

Simple songs awaken my memories,
even those dormant deep within the confines of my mind,

and as i sit silently in my chair,
i begin to wonder when my enchantment ended,
for the fairytales failed in foretelling my future,
and so the silence stays with me,
as the world surrounds me with song.
