Tender Storm

The summer rain falls outside the open window.
I hear the droplets dancing on the sidewalk below,
Sounds of thunder in the distance,
Like muted rumbling kettle drums.
I lay there, a wisp of a breeze flows over me,
I savor its cool momentary presence.

In the silky darkness I turn towards her.
The smooth warmth of her body
Pressing against my chest.
I reach over her, to hold her.
She grasps my hand and softly places it
Against her breast.

She turns her head up
As I gently kiss her neck.
She sighs.
She moves my hand,
Slowly across her stomach,
Holding it between her thighs.

We are in a wondrous place now,
Only the two of us.
Nothing else matters,
We exist just for each other.
In the darkness
Of our small universe.

We share our love,
Our bodies, our souls,
As booming thunder echoes and rain falls.
Lightning flashes outside,
Creating silhouettes
Across the bedroom walls.

We are one
For this fleeting moment,
Suspended in time.
We embrace each other tightly,
I am hers,
She is mine.

The sounds of thunder fade,
The storm has passed.
I hold her tenderly.
She quickly falls asleep.
The wispy breeze returns,
Flowing over me.
