Did you give your life for me
And the bad that swells within
Is it human frailty
That which you call “sin”

Or is it something placed there
For achieving future goals
During times of desperation
Saving human lives, not souls

One could not view a rainbow
Against a rainbow sky
Nor does a cobra make a stand
Until it thinks that it may die

And when our cards are lotted
And our numbers are called forth
Then armor shielding hearts and bones
Chills; like a cold wind from the north

When buttons inside walls of steel
Will make doom fall down like rain
And watching mothers hold their dead
Knowing it was you who caused their pain

Or should we light a candle
While peace just passes by
And watch those without conscience
Rip linings from the sky

It’s the sin inside each one of us
Venom stored in wait
That can knock down the unholy
Lest loving steals our fate

Don’t take the very thing from me
That might make me feel no blame
For collateral mutilations
No humiliation or shame

If you want to die for me
Then please know killing first
To guard a holy kingdom
Guards must be willing to do their worst
