I always liked the idea
of becoming a wise old man
but I may be too old for that
now
however
there are moments when
like today
the sun's shining on the trees
their leaves glinting in the slight breeze
and time seems to be unaware of itself and
and I feel good about myself too
in the same blissfully thoughtless way
that's even better
like a jar of golden promise
that doesn't need a label
Michael, This one blows me away.. and makes me cry at the same time. But surely that's the job of the poet - to remind the reader of something they already know, and to enliven that knowing through perfectly crafted words. love, Allie XXXX
Like a 'jar of golden promise that doesn't need a label.' How perfectly descriptive of what I too often feel! Thank you, Michael, for making me like being older!

Dear Michael, It's always a pleasure to read your work. I love the way you write in so many different styles and voices, how your work is always true to itself - the word I am searching for is integrity. You have it in spades! Thank you for your wisdom and for this gleaming jewel of a poem! Warm regards, Hugh
