a big push from massive claws
and a flap of strong long limbs
guided by pair of piercing eyes
glides in search for fresh flesh
shadow brushes prairie, sweep
sending chills to critters below
except for young rabbit at play
chasing grasshoppers on a hay
break-neck dive came, a hunt
as shadow gets bigger, a fear
a quick jump beneath a shrub
aborts final descend from sky
fly-over, circle one more time
everything is so quiet, not a soul
brave enough come to challenge
sharpness of unforgiving beak
not far away a kid dreaming
to be pilot, soon he too be diving
