050810a Day At The Fairway Poem by Manonton Dalan

050810a Day At The Fairway

i saw a turtle as big as backpack
long-necked and moss on the back
snapping turtle they call at outback
she looks at me with glassy eyes
after driving ball to where she's at
in her mind maybe 'did you do that'

i took a penalty dropp and went on
lucky shot i made it close to green
chip and putt puts me bogey then
i raise the flag and put it on the cup
take off my hat and shake hands
worthy day's game i'm coming back
