I watch the rain pouring down
beating against the windows
hammering on the doors
like it wants to come inside
I hear the thunder
rumbling across the sky
the voice of an angry god
roaring in his fury
trying to deafen all
I get blinded by the lightning
streaking through the sky
never in the same place twice
hurrying down to earth
I can almost feel the wind
battering the walls with leaves
surrounding the house
with waving branches
like an alien invasion
But I can go to sleep
for soon the storm will pass
it can’t hurt me here
when I’m curled up in my bed
protected by my dreams
