(10new!) Portrait Poem by Max Reif

(10new!) Portrait

Rating: 2.8

Without a companion or laptop
or even a book or newspaper,
his skinny frame sits hunched up
in old jeans and a sweatshirt,
green ski cap on his head,
at a stiff right angle to the table,
as though there isn't space for him
in the room or in the world.

His small paper cup of coffee
in front of him on the table
exactly centered on his napkin,
he gazes out into the air.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Robert Howard 16 June 2007

Alison sees her son. I see myself except the ski cap is a Cardinals hat.
