12 Years Poem by Justin Gildow

12 Years

Rating: 5.0

12 years have passed
Since I said goodbye to my youth
As well as the fun times

12 years have passed
And the strength I had when I was younger
is no longer with me

12 years have passed
Since my generation had their final swan
song
And those people that I once knew are
long gone
Long gone from my mind
Long gone from my senses
Long gone from my heart

12 years have passed
And many generations have had their
say
Only to have come and gone

12 years later
I can smile
I'm proud of my independence
And what I believe in
And fight for

12 years now
I can have a glass of soda
Drinking while I'm in thought
Smiling
And perhaps having the last laugh
After all this time
These 12 years

The ice cream truck is still on duty
After such a long time
After these 12 years

At night
During this period of time
Somewhere in the distance
Someone plays a song of wistfulness
On a lonely trumpet
After these 12 years

Cool write, like it...reminds me to my 'rebirth' but the different is you just did it so well...12 years ahead 12years behind...a mission or condition greasing your destiny...fix your target without bothering what age to come to realize it, as the long journey we take make us gain more picture and skill we will drive...on life road! ..nice and it really good :) _Unwritten Soul

a classic, one of your best and so nice to read, almost the same words can be said after my last 12 years ' since I said goodbye to my youth as well as the fun times... And those people that I once knew... wonderfully written, every line 10+
