If someone recorded my ancestors as a number… With their ages and a reference to their gender, Listed under the surname of the owner of the land; I would resent the arrangement…now I understand.

It is necessary, in the teaching of history, to tell the truth. Some truths
however; are relevant, and some are not. As history and the future reveal
themselves, realities change. When it does, finally. Then that truth
of yersterday, while never forgotten in history, must be set aside. If not,
then our future will carry useless burdens it need not bear.
