1st Degree Murder (Oldoldold) Poem by Shelby Barker

1st Degree Murder (Oldoldold)

Thump, thump thump;
What’s that sound?
Only my heartbeat starting up because of you.
I’m rising from the dead,
Finally above ground;
Somehow I’ve never felt so alive.
Your smile;
Slicing heat into my veins,
setting my world on fire,
It’s a heat I’ll gladly get used to.

In, out…gasp;
Why can’t I breathe?
You’re so much more intimidating up close.
Your kiss may kill me,
but if I choose to die twice
then at least I’ll die happy.
Your touch;
weakening my strongest bones,
stabbing my bloodstream cold and numb.
But being defenseless is okay with me.

A quite painless death is in store,
so much better than before.

It may seem now as if
I’m gone for good,
But my beaten presence will always linger.
’Cause can’t you see?
All you really did was save my life.
