2010 World Cup

Dear US Soccer Players:

The World Cup is here
Don’t forget your gear
socks, balls, and shoes
Go fight for the red, white, and blue

Represent the 50 States
Go have fun with your mates
Take your wives and girlfriends on dates

Ignore the haters
They will understand later
that playing Brazil isn’t easy
their stepovers might make you a bit queasy

They will point out every mistake made,
but don’t be afraid,
they should still be in first grade

Your loyal fans will still cheer
while sitting in chairs and drinking a beer
We’ll give you a hand
when you’re too tired to stand

Whether you win or lose
We’ll give you raving reviews
and if I ever meet you, I’ll give you free booze!

Cheers,

Your Most Faithful Fan

Poem of the Day

poet Wilfred Owen

All sounds have been as music to my listening:
Pacific lamentations of slow bells,
The crunch of boots on blue snow rosy-glistening,
Shuffle of autumn leaves; and all farewells:
