21st Century: Our Joy Their Regrets Poem by Adekunle Abiola

21st Century: Our Joy Their Regrets

Our long gone heroes still weep
As their grave beds still know not sleep
Watching their sons throw cultural values in dust-bins
Old friendship are cherished less, for Pings

Their nights filled with regrets
As dreams they fought for now know neglects
Our names they cancelled from the white man's slavery book
Yet we show no signs of freemen like a fish to a hook

Love they made their first religion
Yet we still struggle to see our brothers as one
Virginity they kept with dignity
Now we give like arms to beggars freely

Our lives now an open secret
As in the white man's way we seek to fit
Backs they provided for others to lean
Now 'I don't care attitude' is the daily routine

Till what end shall they watch with swollen eyes
As their tears rise from graves to skies
21st century our joy, now their regrets
As dis future, they never did seeth.
