22 States Poem by Carl Toothman

22 States

I was stung when I heard the news
of dying bees, from our abuse

I find it hard to believe
the damage we've done to our bees

22 States will not be host
to creatures we depend on most

carrying pollen to and fro
to help the vegetation grow

giving us all the various fruits
allowing us to spread our roots

take up your camera, try to catch
one such bee in a flower patch

feel free to share it in my thread
and leave a thought which will be read

on what you think we all could do
to save what's left, and start anew

to see if we can leave something
to share this life, with our off-spring

should the camera still be a tool
in the year 2032

it would be nice to be able
to spread photos on a table

to share with all our beloved
those things we should never covet

let us all share the life we live
treasure it as something to give

do what you can, to see that we
keep our lovely birds, and sweet bees
