#263 Goodbye Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#263 Goodbye

I swore with all my heart that I
Would always try, ever fight.
I swore I’d never say goodbye,
Yet here I am tonight.

I knew somehow I’d make it through,
I knew that help was near.
What a pretty picture I drew,
Then watched it disappear.

I believed an honest decree,
The path was clear ahead,
But now you see you have found me,
I’m hanging by a thread.

I promised I’d never give in,
I’d win no matter how.
It appears I’m quite wrong again,
For the end is here now.

I swore with all my heart that I
Knew what I knew was right.
I swore I’d never say goodbye,
Yet here I am tonight.
