351. We Were All Born Humans Poem by Jaden Knight

351. We Were All Born Humans

Rating: 5.0

We were all born humans
but where is our humanity
it seems to have drifted away
like the garbage floating
in many of the world's rivers

Pestilence and hunger stalk the poorest lands
and yet most people are prepared to do nothing
the rich will moan about the economy
where some countries don't even have one
we have replaced our empathy with greed

Mothers watch their children succumb
to things that no child should die from
war, poverty and starvation
while in the G8 food is thrown away
wasted and left to rot
like the young one who's parents
can neither afford to feed of treat

We came into this world as equals
but we are not allowed to die the same way
why should we deny the right of others
to the life that we take for granted
