4. Hell Poem by Daniel Cobb

4. Hell

HELL:
'JUDGMENT HOUR'
My spirit shuddered violently,
So troubled it withered within me!
The thing I feared has come to be;
What I dreaded most has happened to me!
The sorrows of death surrounded me;
A flood of fear overtook me at night.
Then pain pierced and perplexed me;
I should have called upon heaven's holy light.

Nobody cared if I should live or die;
No one bothered asking why I'd go off to cry.
When I was worried and thought I'd lost my way,
I should have put my trust in You and started to pray.
Once I was merry and full of wine, feasting like a king,
But I never tasted Your love - it was too rich a thing.
I was in charge of my life then, or so it seemed to me;
I thought I'd never want again - had everything I'd need.

I never realized I was lost and on my own;
One night I woke finding myself standing before your throne.
Seraphim around me sang of His unfailing love;
I saw a consuming fire towering up above.
I fell before the throne and moaned aloud with tears;
The cry - 'His name doesn't appear' echoed inside my ears.
I should have been prepared for Judgment Day,
But wasted my time on Earth, every day.

I looked back on my life of lust and hate;
I watched men starve to death - I'd feast and celebrate.
I'd stored up power, fortune, fame - in myself did I trust,
But these temporary treasures were foolish worldly lust.
God in heaven above, is there still time to change my fate?
Oh Lord of light and love, please tell me that it's not too late.
Could You please hear a prayer from the dark gate of Hell?
It's not too late for the reader of this terrible tale!

'DARK DIMENSION'
There’s a place known as Hell,
Prepared for an angel who fell,
From the heavens, an angel fell
Into a spiral that led straight to Hell.
A place of torture and pain,
Where lost souls will cry out in vain.
Their screams aren't heard;
No prayers are answered - not even one word.

They lost their light - they lost their way;
Their very souls were led astray.
The pleasures of sin exist for a moment,
But after that, there's eternal torment.
For the bad things they've done, lost souls are sent
To the place below, where none can repent.
Where the flames will burn forever,
The nightmare ends never.

There's no chance to get away;
You know your soul is here to stay.
The Gates of Hell are dark and black;
You know there's no turning back.
The time has come - now it's too late;
No prayer can save them from this fate.
For this is the path of the dead,
And to the gates of Hell it led.

The darkness has entered this dimension;
It's within the world - inside us as well.
Though innocence is our one intention,
Corruption comes from the very fires of hell.
So learn the truth - turn from God's wrath;
Who knows what lies down that dark path?
You who are living, beware those now dead;
Many suffer torment instead.

'HELL'S CASINO'
Hell has a Casino
Fools visit every day.
You think they’d take a hint,
Yet, they can't wait to play.
They got hooked when they took the first look,
Gambling their prayers and dreams away,
Giving their hearts and souls away,
Trading tomorrow for today.

Pride promised pleasure, but brought pain;
Can't you see all the souls it's slain?
The devil can make your dreams come true,
But after that, he'll own you!
With death, they made a deal,
Sold what was real for what they feel,
Trading the Truth for a lie,
But why did they want it to die?

Even if you're a beginner,
EVERYONE IS A WINNER!
You came, you went - your time is spent;
Now there’s no chance to repent.
No matter how you roll the dice,
You're gonna have to pay the price.
Cuz each time there's a chance you take;
It might be the last mistake you make.

This world is full of quicksand,
Full of God-forsaken lies.
The only way to move on
Is to see things through His eyes.
This world is not perfect now,
But once it was.
God doesn't play dice with the universe,
But the devil does!

'ALONG CAME A SPIDER'
Bodies hang in midair;
Blood drips down everywhere.
Their cocoon is like a crypt;
They dance in drops of blood that drip.
Catching every lost soul who falls,
Treating their bodies like rag dolls,
Creatures crawl through the hellish halls;
Spiders spin webs from the walls.

Swift shadows move in the moonlight;
Disappear in the darkness, staying out of sight.
Spiders sneak through your window late at night;
Yet they tremble at the thought of light.
Spiders in the shadows waiting in the darkness
For you to fall in webs of wickedness.
That's where they're slain and strangled;
That's where they're trapped and tangled.

Don't ever touch those tempting threads,
Seductive silk - silver strands of spider-webs.
Leaving you as food for their hatching young,
Crawling all over you - the creatures you're among.
Feel the soft silk on your smooth skin;
There's a body wrapped up within.
Some are still struggling to survive;
It almost feels like they're alive.

Thus came the end of a spider who grew
So proud of his power he hardly knew
The strand suspended in the air
Hung in God's hand by just one hair.
They'll take whatever they can get,
Feasting on the fools falling in their net.
Though these poor souls are lost or lame,
To demons, they're all fair game.

'UNHEARD PRAYER'
There is no sanctuary,
No place in paradise for me.
I'm alone here in this hell
I've come to know so well.
A ray of light falls on my face;
I know I'll never leave this place.
My role in life meant for a fool,
I never knew fate could be so cruel.

I can't get back the soul I sold;
I didn't know death could be so cold.
Feels like my life's been put on hold;
First it was fun, but it got old.
If you ever feel the terror,
You will keep from every error.
The halls of hell will make you mourn
The day that you were born.

Why can't we all just get along?
They know what they're doing is wrong!
I'm the new center of attention;
That wasn't my intention.
So often, I've heard them pray;
I won't hear what they have to say.
I pushed all my friends away;
None of them want to stay.

I whisper every word,
But fear my prayer will not be heard.
Deliver me from death, I pray.
Don't let wickedness have its way.
The crimes you've committed,
Too terrible to say.
Now they have come for you;
For your sins you shall pay.

'DID YOU MAKE RESERVATIONS? '
If at no time you have sought salvation,
And never acknowledged being God’s creation,
Hell is the place where lost souls go to separation,
Those who never accepted this invitation.

Unless you change your wicked ways,
Time will catch up with you one of these days.
It's the beginning of the end. You have some work to do.
The old must die before the new can become true.

Things won't get better before they get worse;
Now you're running out of time to reverse the curse.
Why would you expect for the God you never knew,
To forgive you anyway, just because you're you?

If you were loving and giving,
You prepared for death while you were living.
If within the darkness, you chose to dwell,
Then you've bought a one-way ticket to Hell.

'THE ROAD TO HELL'
She walked down a long road
That led her straight to Hell.
She couldn't bear the heavy load,
So there, in chains she fell.

She sold her soul;
Now she'll never get it back.
She stepped outside into the night
So cold and dark and black.

What she went through
Was just too much to bear.
She thought life was hell before;
Now, she's really there.

Now that her fate has been forever sealed,
The truth will finally be revealed.
She'll burn in the fire forever,
To be released never.

'THERE'S NO WAY OUT'
Failing to follow instruction,
They're destined for destruction.
They close their eyes and shut them tight
So they won't see the light.

They wasted all of their time on earth;
They cursed the day of their own birth.
They've sunk so low, in their blind state;
They envy every other fate.

I look in their eyes and see tears;
Then into the darkness they disappear.
They beg, they scream, their plea is clear;
I hear their horror - I feel their fear.

Souls are trapped within these flames,
But no one knows their names.
With one last look, they leave the light,
Entering the eternal night.

'HEAVEN TURNED ME AWAY'
Certain of what I once believed,
Only to find I was deceived,
Never stopping to count the cost,
I feared I might be lost.

I kept on telling myself I could wait,
Thinking time would just stand still.
Yet, I can change. It's not too late.
In the end, I never will.

I should have been set apart;
I knew it deep down in my heart.
I tried to pray he'd let me stay;
I never thought God would turn me away.

In the darkness, where demons dwell,
There’s a place known as hell.
They’re awaiting my arrival;
I struggle for survival.

'NOBODY WILL MISS ME'
I'm dying - I feel it inside;
As the forces of good and evil collide.
Part of my heart is bad, but part is good;
I don't understand it - I wish I could.

Now it seems like a fantasy to me,
When hope was more than just a memory.
So different now from what it first seemed,
This world has killed the dream I dreamed.

This is the end of everything
That might've meant something.
And all I want is one more chance,
To dream my dream and dance my dance.

Far away - in a place I might’ve known,
I was left afraid and alone,
Wondering what life might have been;
I'd trade it all for just one chance to start over again.

'THE GATES OF HELL'
The path to life is long and hard;
If you walk it, then stay on guard.
The truth you haven't yet received;
Do not let yourself be deceived.

If you listen to the lies people say,
They will turn you from the right way.
If you are wise, you won't turn around,
Building your life on solid ground.

If you're a saint, you shall walk and not faint;
Your heart and mind lust will not taint.
So watch your step as you pass these hot coals;
Don't tread the path of these lost souls.

You can try to escape eternity,
But you can't run from reality.
There's only one way to leave;
But first, you have to believe.

'TRAPPED HERE IN HELL'
Between pleasure and pain,
I lost my mind, going insane.
Beyond happiness and sadness,
I’m trying to end this madness.

My screams shatter the silent air;
These evil creatures laugh with joy.
They stand there in the dark and stare,
Like I am just a brand-new toy.

All around me, the shadows gather,
Trying to trap me there forever.
The darkness reaches out for me;
I don't think I'll ever be free.

I let the tears stream down my face;
How did I end up in this place?
Falling on my knees, screaming out,
If this is hell, then I want out!

'THE HALLS OF HELL'
At night, it's easy to pretend;
Darkness is where the light ends.
Surrender to the shadows
And resist the rainbows.

Then you will know,
Freedom is found in letting go.
You can't describe the endless pain;
It's too hard to explain.

In Hell, there are no stars in sight
To guide you with their light.
You won't live through the night,
So just give up this fight.

In space, no one can hear you scream,
But in Hell, God can't hear you pray.
Heaven is just a dream,
Yet you cry anyway.

'THE LAKE OF FIRE'
I walk the path I know so well,
Stepping into the shadows of hell.
I close my eyes and hold my breath,
Standing before the edge of death.

Traveling through the gates, I came
To a river of red-hot flame.
I saw the face of one I knew;
I couldn't believe it was true.

Now they're living in a nightmare;
Even God can't hear their prayers.
If you look hard, you'll see them there;
Their souls have been trapped in a snare.

Poor souls cried out as I passed by;
Now I know the reason why.
My dear lost soul, I wish you well;
I hope you don't end up in hell.

'CRIMSON CASCADES'
Look at the flame;
See what it became.
Watch the fire dance,
Held within this trance.

There are no rivers of rainbows,
Only seas of shadows.
There are only streams of blood
That burn like a fiery flood.

Fire, water, earth, and air;
The elements are everywhere!
This is where the demons dare
To catch victims unaware.

Watching, waiting, silent, still;
They go in for the kill.
Feasting on flesh, the demons dine;
Crimson cascades and waterfalls of wine.

'WAKEUP CALL'
I'm just an angel
Sent to you from up above
To take you from the darkness
And show to you God's love.

So don't listen to the Devil;
He's here to steal your soul,
Eclipse innocence with evil,
And let time take it's toll.

There's just one thing to do;
We can see this through together.
Now I'm here to help you;
You don't have to burn forever.

You have to hold on tight;
Don't give up without a fight.
But your heart will betray you,
If you let it lead you.

'NARROW IS THE WAY'
The road to Hell is easy;
It's Heaven I want to find.
It is not for the hard-hearted,
Or for the weak of mind.

There are signs to warn us in life;
Man is not his own master.
This world keeps on spinning faster,
Heading forward to disaster.

The road to life is narrow,
Full of suffering and sorrow.
The map you choose to follow
Will determine your tomorrow.

It will take faith to find the way;
Without it, you will fall away.
Now you know what you have to do,
But the question is, will you?

'FAREWELL FOREVER'
I'm still trapped here in hell,
But I can't tell how I first fell;
My soul can't get out of this shell!
Is there a way to break this spell?

I think of what I could have had;
I have no place to turn.
It's all my fault - I've been so bad;
In hell my soul will burn.

Falling into a nightmare
I can never wake up from,
Now I’m nothing more
Than a shadow soon to come.

This isn't over yet;
It's too good to be true!
This can't be happening;
What should I do?

'DEVIL AT YOUR DOOR'
Someone's at the door;
You go see who it's for.
Then tell him to go away;
You can't come out to play.

Step out and you will see
Just how hard life can be.
You thought that you were strong,
But you were wrong.

So you decided to give it a try;
Had a bad feeling, but didn't know why.
Too many times before
You've opened the door.

When the devil knocks
On the door to your heart,
Don't let him in;
He'll rip it apart!

'ABANDON HOPE'
If all you knew
Was hate and fear,
With no one there
To dry each tear…

If you lived in the dark
And hid from sight,
And the thing you feared most
Was the morning light…

Watch as each mortal
Passes through the portal,
Thrown back to the flame
From which they came.

Abandon all hope,
You who enter here.
Don't come too close,
Or get too near.

'MAKE YOUR OWN HELL'
No one can tell;
You're trapped in hell.
Now it's too late
To change your fate.

They told you not to go;
You didn't listen though.
Throwing your life away,
Now you have hell to pay.

Your hope is gone;
Your dreams have died.
No one can save you now;
There's no place left to hide.

You may not like it,
But you'll get used to it.
Take it or leave it;
You don't have to believe it.

'GRAVEYARD SHIFT'
On a mighty mountain
In a dark wood,
Willows whispered a warning
Where silent statues stood.

Twisted trees trapped in the ice,
Crystal sculptures stood in the snow.
Branches bending beneath burdens,
A glittering, glorious glow.

These cold, hard hearts of ice
Were trapped in place to pay the price.
That's where their souls were sacrificed,
This world worth more to them than life.

Suddenly skeletons rose from the ground;
I approached their graves, feeling my heart pound.
My eyes opened wide at the gray sight of gloom.
Torchlight glowed up ahead as I stepped into the room.
