Have you ever looked into the eyes
of someone you called a friend
and watched in horror as they faded away
I always hoped I would never do that
but obviously you had other ideas

For the last few months the signs were there
but I failed to notice them properly
stress and tiredness caused me to no see them
until it was too late to stop it

Maybe I should have been more alert
I was not expecting it to happen
now I know what you truly are
I can drop it and carry on

you meant nothing to me
