.5. Back To Bed Poem by David Threadgold

.5. Back To Bed

Rating: 0.5

I often wonder why it is
That I should feel this way
Pain rushing through my body
In that so familiar way

I tried to get up from my bed
With rails to help me rise
Tripping as I tried to walk
This led to my demise

I stumbled on the carpet edge
Went down with such a thump
The corner of the dresser
Left my head with quite a lump

Shocked and dazed I crawled around
I even tried to stand
But arms and legs don’t always do
What brain could once demand?

My wife came rushing to my aid
You should have called she said
She helped me to my feet once more
Then straight back into bed

That's just your body's way of telling you that it wasn't quite ready to get up! : -) Hugs, Dee

the bed, the sanctuary and shelter, as you probably know science has not extended our life expectancy it has only lengthened the period of old age, well done and provacative,
