.5. Behind Your Mask Poem by David Threadgold

.5. Behind Your Mask

Rating: 5.0

Behind your mask the hidden woes
The side of you that no one knows
It hides the pain that comes and goes
So well until it never shows

Behind your mask you wear all day
You pray the pain will go away
But no such luck it’s there to stay
Past heavy toil the price you pay

Behind your mask you play a game
But every time it’s just the same
Not well known it has no name
A game where pain you try to tame

Behind your mask a hidden place
Allowing none to see your face
Where raging pain increases pace
It seems today you lost the chase

Behind your mask where no one sees
A shooting pain within your knees
You ask your mask to hide it please
And walk in pain lest they should seize
