.5. Flash Bang Poem by David Threadgold

.5. Flash Bang

Bolts of lightning flash around
A blackened stormy sky
They strike the village power lines
And make some blue sparks fly

A flash across the skyline
Lights up the distant hills
Rain running down the rooftops
As water barrel fills

Fallen leaves are washing down
To block up all the gutters
Down-pipes now get airlocks
Rain coming out in splutters

A sudden flash of lightening
Strikes tree with so much rage
The mighty oak falls on the road
Where grown for such an age

When all at once it’s over
A sudden sort of calm
I ask all who have seen it
Why nature do’s such harm?
