Did you see the moon come out tonight?
A sphere in a spangled sky
Did you see the long tailed comet?
Through the heavens it did fly
Did you see the frosted gateway?
Or feel the crunch of ice
Did you see young Reynard off to hunt?
Not sure well I looked twice
Did you see the trees and branches?
A different more magical sight
Did you see in the river reflections?
All darkness but shiny and bright
Did you see the young rabbits out grazing?
Chilly winds ruffle furry brown backs
Did you see the men poaching the salmon?
Placing all they had caught in their sacks
Did you see the owl swoop on the dormouse?
Or the bats catching moths in the light
Did you see on this cold winters evening
How the countryside changes at night
