.5. The Plane Maker Poem by David Threadgold

.5. The Plane Maker

Rating: 5.0

A great big box of balsa wood
And endless tubes of glue
A picture of an aeroplane
To show me what to do

First cutting out the pieces
On table laid out neat
The plans predict the wingspan
At least a good three feet

Every part came numbered
Some left and some for right
Lots for top and bottom
And bits for out of sight

One by one I picked them up
Then glued them into place
The excess glue on fingertips
Stuck nicely to my face

The final job to cover frame
With tissue glued on tight
The next day when the glue has dried
It took its maiden flight
