.5. The Tops Poem by David Threadgold

.5. The Tops

Your broad red arms that hold me
No muscles but much strength
Those gorgeous sculptured legs I see
With never ending length

You wrap around my shoulder
These years have been the best
You support me now I’m older
When I need to take a rest

Broad bottomed but well padded
Spread slightly through the years
With many wrinkles added
Through good times and through tears

You’re always there to greet me
Offer comfort when I wake
My nights are getting shorter now
Your services I take

As one in dark or daylight
Our needs we both now share
You must know what I think of you
My favourite comfy chair
