53 - A Rose Too Tough To Die Poem by nicola burkett

53 - A Rose Too Tough To Die

Covered in leaves
and left for dead
beneath the bridge
Where he made her bed

Along the I-45
She lies lifeless and still
Her life fading to nothing
for his psychotic thrill

The sixth rose tattooed
upon the devils chest
The sixth rose
The devil did molest

A light of hope
pulled her from this grave
Inner strength and courage
Her soul did save

She wont let him destroy her
She will not let him win
She will fight the infection
And wash away his sin

Too weak to live
But too tough to die
She stays holding on
As her family standby
