Proof is
an end-symbolizing-scratch
on the hard trunk
of the first underwater sequoia,
(very high among the branches)
All scientists think a six-legged being
has nailed its way there,
during the momentary uprising of the magnificent tree.

[Times passing leave tracks nowhere, except in human memory]

On the news a man claiming that Man can climb
naked,
when all he does himself is
swim downwards
grapping the decaying wooden
skin,
when all he does himself is
lurk for your first mistake
with his left
eye,
when all he’s ever done himself is
carve the yellow nucleus sign
on a dead Ivan Pagonov’s
forehead.
